Back in Use expands its offering with Fairphone smartphones and audio devices. With this expansion, Back in Use is taking an important step towards a more sustainable technology sector. Although Fairphone devices are not refurbished but new, they fit perfectly with our mission to reduce e-waste and extend the lifespan of technology.
Sustainability as a key to success
The Dutch technology company Fairphone is known for its commitment to environmentally friendly and ethical production methods. In 2023, the company was able to avoid 944 tons of CO² and 28.7 tons of e-waste. In 2024, this commitment was recognized the prestigious King Willem-I Prize for Sustainable Entrepreneurship as well as the award for Best Mobile Innovation for Climate Action at the Global Mobile Awards.
Fairphone's smartphones, earphones and headphones are built with recycled and fairly mined materials and have a modular design. This means that users can easily replace parts such as the screen, battery or camera themselves. Fairphone helps users significantly extend the lifespan of their device and thus contribute to the reduction of e-waste.
A logical next step
Back in Use shares this commitment to sustainability. In the first year of its existence, the online store has already managed to avoid 452 tons of CO². By adding Fairphone products to their offering, the webshop now offers customers in the Benelux and surrounding countries even more options to make conscious choices in their technology purchases. Both companies believe that technology can have a positive impact on the world, provided it is produced and used in a responsible manner.
